Snuggle Sacks recently hosted a free giving store for local kids in the community. Snuggle Sacks co-founder, 11-year old Addisyn Goss, serves on the Kids Board of Directors for Kidbox, a subscription children’s fashion company out of New York City, where she was awarded $10,000 in clothing to donate back to kids in her community who would most benefit. Upon receiving the clothing, she and her siblings, also Snuggle Sacks co-founders, quickly went to work to organize the event. Sheridan Goss, 16, and Jaxson Goss, 14, joined Addisyn in organizing the logistics, partnering with the Genesee Valley Center, who provided them with a donated storefront and store display units for the one-day event. “Genesee Valley Center was honored to be a part of the Snuggle Sacks Giving Store and provide a unique shopping experience for the children. We truly love being a part of the community and are thankful to be involved in opportunities to give back for the past 47 years,” said Cindy Frohriep, marketing manager for Genesee Valley Center. Snuggle Sacks worked in conjunction with Voices for Children (formerly Weiss Advocacy Center) in Flint to identify children who would greatly benefit from receiving new, name-brand clothing. They then went to work organizing the Snuggle Sacks Giving Store presented by Kidbox. They arranged for the selected children to visit the store on November 17th, and each child had a complete shopping experience, receiving all brand-new items, including a backpack, winter coat, hat and gloves, two outfits each, and socks. They were then able to spend time at a craft table, and share in some lunch, generously donated by Mo Pete’s Sports Retreat, also located in the Genesee Valley Center. Additionally, Pure Bliss Salon and Spa was on hand to style the kids hair and provide basic hair tips. “We wanted to make sure they got the full shopping experience,” said Addisyn. “Many kids have never been able to go to a store for new clothes, let alone come to the mall, so we hope they had a great time and love their clothes.” “We love giving back to our community, and to see the kids so excited to come into the store and have a private party just for them was so awesome to see. We hope we were able to start their holidays off with a smile!” said Sheridan. “The giving store was an amazing opportunity for the children. Trauma effects children deep to their core but it is kindness like this, seeing that other people care about them, that helps heal and restore them. And when it is one of their peers, like sweet Addisyn and her siblings, it makes it that much more special! The joy of the children to receive jackets, clothes, and so much more, meant so much to them!” said Angie Essenburg with Voices for Children Advocacy Center. Melissa Withey, owner of Pure Bliss Salon and Day Spa and long-time supporter of Voices for Children Advocacy Center, was also eager to jump on board. “We at Pure Bliss enjoy being able to give back to the community and helping others. It was amazing that Snuggle Sacks invited us to be a part of the big day. We feel that working together and involving our groups to collaborate gives us a chance to help out more children in our community. Every child should be given a chance to feel special and look good, and know that there are people and businesses that care about them. Also, a huge thank you to the Genesee Valley Mall for helping to make this happen by donating a store front and showing the children what it is like to shop at a real store.” In addition to the Giving Store, Snuggle Sacks has also been involved with Bendle Public Schools, donating the remaining clothing to students in the district.

On October 13th, Sheridan, Jaxson and Addisyn traveled to NYC to visit ABC Studios to record a segment for Radio Disney! They were on a show called Fearless Every Day with Alexa Curtis, and talked about what they do, how they have grown it, what obstacles they have to overcome and so much more! It was an awesome opportunity to spread awareness on homeless in general, and show other kids how they can make a difference in any way, big or small! All we know so far is that the segment will air in December, so we will keep everyone posted!! The show does air: Fridays @ 9pmPT, Saturdays @ 7amPT, Sundays @8pmPT on RadioDisney.com, the Radio Disney app, XM/Sirius Channel 79, iHeart Radio and more.
